Life after birth : Postnatal check
POSTNATAL CHECK
You will be asked to attend a post natal check appointment (4 weeks after delivery) at your doctor's surgery where you may see either the doctor or the nurse. You may have all or some of the following routines performed:

Urine test |

Weight check |

Blood pressure |
|
Check to see if the womb has shrunk to its normal size |

Examination of perineum or abdomen (if you had an episiotomy or caesarean) to ensure that the wounds are healing fine |
|
Examination of breasts and nipples (particularly if you are breastfeeding) |
|
Cervical smear test carried out if you haven't had one in the last 3 years |
|
Discussion about contraception |
|
Any other worries and concerns may be discussed |
