YOUR BABY'S HEALTH CHECKS
New Birth Screening
When the health visitor visits your newborn at home, she
may perform a new birth screening which may include some or
all of the following observations:
- Weight
- Length
- Head circumference
- Condition of the skin
- Gross motor skills
- Umbilical cord
- Response to light
- Response to sound
- See if the testes have descended (in a male
baby)
- General physical condition of the baby
- Environment in which the baby is living
- Feeding routine
- Discuss immunisation
